On Friday the 3rd I went to work from 4pm to 9pm which is 5 hours.
In total it was 21 hours.
I did what i usually do. I made several shirts for customers with vinyl and "black paper" paper specifically for colored shirts. We had to make a lot of Doctor Seuss kids shirts which was kind of annoying because there were a lot of picky customers and the decal was hard to stick to the paper. I was ok though because we were all supportive of each other. I also finally got a hang of the cash register. I'm glad I know how to use it now because it is an important skill in retail.
On Saturday the 4th I went to work from 12pm-9pm which is well over the 4 hours I needed. It is a total of 30 hours.
I worked all day and it was extremely busy. Everyone was looking for Doctor Seuss shirts again which was really annoying because the pressing machine kept breaking down and ruining the decal. Even though we wasted a lot of material we made it through the day with lots of red bull and no lunch break. We forgot to eat, yeah I know thats crazy. I also went on sunday which was my official first day of work! I'm excited but I have no more weekends (oh well).

New hours !!
On saturday I went to Custom Me from 11am-2pm which was 3hrs. This in total adds up to 8 total hours leaving me with 17 hrs left. I made several more shirts and met some regular customers. I still find the need of approval by my mentor when I am about to press something on to a shirt. I like to make sure that the image is centered. I also formed a bond with my mentor and coworker. They are nice people and always make new friends. I feel like i have been getting better at making t-shirts and also at giving people ideas for their design.
On sunday I worked from 11am-7pm which was 8 hours. The total hours are 16hrs leaving me with 9 hours remaining. As usual I made more custom shirts for more people. I made a lot of minnie mouse and mine craft shirts for kids. I finally started training with the cash register. Im not very good at it, haha but i'll get there. I met the other coworker there. He was also very friendly which was a relief. I also was given a job there which made me very happy ! I will work from fridays to sundays due to school schedules. Even though I won't have weekends anymore, I am happy to have a job in a creative store such as this. I plan on seeing them again next friday-sunday.

My new mentor joe!
Today friday 26th I started my hours at 3pm and ended at 9pm (6hrs, 19hrs to go).
I went to CustomMe and had my first work day with Joe. I learned so much for my first day! I made like 3 t-shirt with the iron-press. I used hot-peel, cold-peel, and vinyl to make said shirts. I also learned how to fold much faster and i instantly became friends with the coworkers there. He even paid me at the end of the day. I plan on returning tomorrow from 10am-2pm and continue to help with the shop. This is defiantly a relief compared to what happened before. I feel much more comfortable here and way happier.

my old mentor
ok, so I missed school on wednesday to see my mentor from the t-shirt printing company...
straight from the beginning he was telling me that life was about hard work and that it wasn't free.
I understand that what he said was true however, my father left the building and thats when everything began.
Please keep in mind that i ASKED him to be my mentor and he agreed with "pleasure".
I was there from 10am to 3pm.
I began to learn from photoshop with a coworker. He was very nice and helpful; I could see that he had sympathy for me because none of the workers not even my mentor was paying attention to me. He taught me as much as he could from embroidery to photoshop and some other computer programs. The moment came at around 2:30pm when my mentor, the boss of a "professional" company called me to his office.
I entered his office and he immediately said "I'm going to talk to you candidly now that your dad is not here to protect you." Things went just as bad as that sounds. Let me just quote what he said to me...
"Why did you leave this last minute! In life you have to do the f****** work!!"
(Lets not forget that he would not admit to his multiple absences to Guatemala)
"your dad can't protect you forever"
"Just because you are pretty doesn't mean you will get everything in life"
"Be a woman and do the work"
"F****** F******"
(i swear the F*** popped up in every sentence)
"your dad works his a** off for you to have food on the dinner table"
(he barely even knows my dad to know his struggles or about his life.)
"oh you know how to design? you know, its not only about making it look like your sketch. its also about function."
"oh your going to FIDM? Are you paying for it? oh i thought so. In life you cant always fake it."
(I already feel bad enough about going to such an expensive school and i am going to get a job to pay for it. however he has no position to scold me. the funny part is that i ASKED him if i could spend 25hrs there that same day and he agreed, then he decided he wanted to completely lie about my hours and kick me out of the building. Who is the one not doing the work here?)
he said so many things to me that i choose not to remember because they cut so deep into my personal life that i would rather forget then relive it. I just wanted to leave that horrible place with my fake mentor evaluation signed. I did not talk back to him and he knew i couldn't because i was in desperate need of his signature. he told advantage of it. when i finally was free from the abuse and made it to the car, my mother saw the hurt in my face and asked me why i had left early and why i looked down. I couldn't help but tell her and my whole family because it was just too horrible for me too hide. Is that how he treats his workers? who knows. I told them all the truth except my dad who was already heart broken about the way his "friend" treated me. I told him everything except the cussing part. My whole family was in flames and they wanted to do all sorts of bad stuff to him. However, i did not cry once. I stayed strong for my self and for my family. I despise violence and find no need to waste my time on someone so insignificant. I tried to calm down my family and i asked my dad to not go looking for him or call him. I also decided that same day that his signature didn't mean anything to me. I burn the papers and his business card and i immediately got myself an amazing mentor at CustomMe t-shirts at Tanforan mall.

update
Unfortunately, due to my schedule, I have not met with my mentor yet. I am really going to try next week. I couldn't this week because my schedule was full due to college related plans but I will defiantly try this coming week.

update Jan. 25
My mentor is finally back and i will be meeting with him next week. I decided to do my paper on "the rise of the t-shirt" thanks to Mr. Migdales help. Because of that I need to find even more websites to add to my paper.

Update
I have yet to meet my mentor. He is in Guatemala right now but should be back next week. I will probably meet with him soon.
He has his own store where he puts graphics on t-shirts and embroidery. They are usually large quantities of t-shirts and most of the time for big companies. However, I am sure that he makes personal t-shirts as well. His store resides in San Fransicsco. I'll update when I see him.

Fiscal Cliff Response
The "Fiscal Cliff" issue is causing huge debate between Democrats and Republicans. They have completely different views on the issue at hand. Democrats believe that they should repeal the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy. Republicans, however, believe they should have more spending and extend tax rates for families making less than $450,000.
Google has many things to offer for people who would like to research. I decided to use a specific approach. To find the views of both parties, I added quotation marks to the words fiscal cliff and added the words "democratic", "republican" and "views". I kept receiving unwanted results so I added minus signs to words like "Tzu", "Sun", and "President".
